On this celebration day of Palm Sunday, and while in the vortex of emotion and hope from yesterday's historic children's March for Our Lives demonstration around the world, let us reflect on the teachings of Jesus over 2,000 years ago that still reigns true today.
Mark 10:14-16
14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
Mark 9:37
36 He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”
As Jesus, set on his journey upon a young colt into paths of corruption, greed and rejection, that had encompassed Jerusalem, with no fear to divert him from his mission, these young brave and courageous children have forged towards the injustices and greed of American politics, with unity and power because it was the right thing to do. May we learn from these children and welcome them back into our arms that had been cut from the veins of the blood that unites us.
